Safety is important. The company has a full-time Health and Safety Department, headed by a full time Director who works closely with MSHA, OSHA, our insurers and employees. Each sizeable project has a designated safety officer.

Very little of our work is subcontracted. We have "in-house" the ability to do almost all phases of underground construction projects we undertake, including site preparation, grouting and other water control measures, exploration drilling, Shotcreteing, concrete construction, setting of permanent equipment, machinery and piping. This single responsibility results in more personal attention to your job.

Cowin's employees are experienced veterans; most foremen have 15 to 25 years of service with the company. We are professionals.


Cowin projects are located throughout most of the United States.

In over 80 years of mine construction and engineering, Cowin has successfully completed many complex projects.

We do mine construction for both metal and non-metal mining companies along with many coal mining companies. We've done small, emergency repair jobs lasting only a few days as well as eight-figure jobs lasting several years.
