Underground bunkers are used in the mining industry to regulate and control the flow of material to the surface. They are basically large vessels or containers that can store large quantities of material in the event of production surges thus allowing the material to flow out to the surface at a fixed or variable rate that can be handled. Bunkers can be constructed in various capacities and can be a sophisticated mechanical unit, or just a simple free fall hole in the ground.
