Slope Construction

From production headings to ramps, fault crossings, and comprehensive mine production support, we’ve got it covered. We also perform all of the support work, including scaling, bolting, lining, rail and material handling systems.

Mine Slope Construction and Rehabilitation

As a leader in the mining industry, Cowin & Co has mastered mine slope design, construction and rehabilitation. Slope design in mining is one of the major sectors of our work. Over the years, we’ve successfully constructed miles of slopes in various sizes, both from the surface to underground and between different underground locations.

Versatile Slope Configurations

Our portfolio includes slopes with configurations ranging from plain unlined for ventilation to those featuring concrete floors for rubber-tired equipment and rails for track-mounted equipment. We’ve tailored mine slopes and access tunnels for various companies to access underground workings, adapting to gradients that span from a fraction of 1% up to a challenging 100%. Lengths have varied from a couple of hundred feet to well over a mile..

Diverse Coal Mine Slopes

For coal mines, our slope design expertise extends to constructing slopes from the surface with gradients as steep as 17 degrees, widths up to 28 feet, and heights reaching 20 feet. Slopes can be crafted with either a “side by side” or “over and under” configuration.

Inclines, Declines, and Underground Connectivity

Cowin & Co. specializes in providing inclines and declines underground, facilitating inter-seam connection and development within the coal seam.

Drift Work Excellence

We also specialize in drift work of all dimensions. We expertly drive drifts in mines across the country, specializing in fault-crossing and drifts through water-bearing zones.
